  2. Global Ideas Reflections

    by
In August 2014 the second annual Global Ideas Forum was held. MPHSA organised partial conference fee subsidies for a handful of Global Health focussed students to attend and report back about their experience. “Overall, GIF was engaging, and made you feel part of an active, socially-minded community. I would genuinely like to thank the MPHSA for allowing me to go. Without knowing anything about Global Ideas Forum 2014, I know it is not to be missed!” “The academic theme, “Health for all in a growing and mobile world”, highlighted our most pressing global issues: overstretched and under-resourced health systems, climate change, overcrowding and competition for resources. These challenges were juxtaposed against examples of current innovative projects, cultural performances, and small group workshops, which all encouraged positivity, openness and collaboration”. “The Global Ideas Forum 2013 was a fully packed, fun and stimulating event. It was well organised and jam-packed with opportunities...

    by
MSPGH & MPHSA invite NEW AND CONTINUING students to an induction evening to commence semester 2 with ideas on how to make the most of your studies from a personal perspective. There will be some talking ‘to’ you, ‘with’ you, and ‘between’ you, and time to interact, mingle and meet. See below for an outline of the evening (subject to variation). Light supper provided. Date/Time: Thursday 1st August, 5:30pm-8-30pm. Location: Theatre 1 (basement), School of Population and Global Health, 207 Bouverie St, Carlton Personal Health and Well-being (Dr Richard Chambers & Gareth Durrant) Sometimes even public health students forget how to look after themselves. When juggling assessments, timetables, work, life and everything else, it can be easy to forget how to maintain good physical and emotional health, and how to maintain perspective and balance? Richard will share some tips and advice, and we welcome students to share experiences with peers....

    by
In conjunction with Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, we would like to invite students to attend the following professional development and careers nights coming up in August. The professional development evening on the 1st August is designed as a follow up to the extremely successful induction for new students held in February, however is open to all MSPGH Masters students, both new and continuing. The Careers Nights have been put together specifically with population and global health students’ needs in mind. The 2012 evenings were very popular and well received, and the 2013 evenings promise to be at least as good! We highly recommend you try to attend at least one of these evenings.   To assist us with catering, it would be appreciated if you could indicate whether you will be attending the evenings using the form below as soon as you can.   Thursday August 1,...
